Why I Travel

There is never a time that I feel more alive than when I travel.  Stepping outside of my box and immersing myself  in new cultures, new foods and new experiences with those I love, is for me, what life is all about.

Walking down the streets of old city Jerusalem at 3am headed to a private mass inside the Holy Sepulcher (the place in which Jesus’ body was laid after being taken down from the cross) , watching the sun rise as I peaked Mt Fuji in Japan at 12,389 ft or driving down a windy mountain road in Georgia and stumbling upon a 9th century castle where we were the only ones there, are only a few life changing experiences I have had while exploring the world.

While traveling I also don’t feel obligated to be connected to my devices which is so freeing.  I am also more relaxed, not needing to have a plan, instead being open to the possibilities of what each day brings.

My favorite travel partner is definitely my husband.  He has traveled his entire life and just gets it.  I find that for us, as a couple, when we travel together, we have deeper more meaningful conversations, we connect on a different level, we take stock of our lives, reflecting on where we have come from, where we are now, and where we want to be.  We pray more when we travel. I have also noticed that we are in a state of gratitude and appreciation more often than not when we are traveling.

So, with said….I would love to share with you some of my favorite quotes about traveling and experiencing life in a different way, that I hope inspires you go out and live a life people write novels about:)
